Andreas Schmitten (born 1980, Germany) lives and works in Dusseldorf and Neuss, Germany. With his multidisciplinary artworks he works in the field of drawing, sculpture as well as installation and incorporates techniques of attraction from religion, theatre and the world of commodities. He deals with questions about human beings, their historie, the seemingly mundane,functinal objects they create and the cultural structures that result from their actions. His works have been shown in solo exhibitions ,amongst others in the Kunstpalais Erlangen, the Museum Kurhaus Kleve, the Kunsthalle Bremerhaven, Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden/Craigg Foundation, Wuppertal, and also in group exhibitions in Paris, New York, London, Brussels, Tokyo and Los Angeles. His works are, amongst others, part of the following public collections: Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Dusseldorf, Kunstmuseen Krefeld, Kunstsammlung der deutschen Bundesbank, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Bonn and more.
